Maersk Warns Strait of Hormuz Transit Still Unsafe Despite US–Iran Truce
In its latest operational update on the Middle East, the company indicated that the situation remains unclear and subject to rapid change, emphasizing the need for caution.
“Volatility persists in the situation. In coordination with our security partners, we have assessed that as of now, transit through the Strait should be avoided,” it said.
The firm noted that any future decision to resume navigation through the key route would rely on continued risk evaluations, close observation of security developments, and coordination with relevant authorities and partners.
It stressed that protecting crew members, ships, and cargo remains its foremost concern.
The advisory comes even as a temporary truce between the US and Iran has raised expectations of reduced tensions, with shipping companies still exercising caution due to ongoing security concerns surrounding one of the world’s most vital corridors for energy shipments and global trade.
