Trump links Rob Reiner’s death to opposition to his administration
"Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as Trump derangement syndrome," Trump posted on his Truth Social account.
"He was known to have driven people crazy by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before," he added.
Authorities have released limited information about the investigation, and it remains unclear what evidence supports Trump’s claims. The Reiners, aged 78, were found dead at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday. Reports indicate a family member is in custody and being questioned in connection with the deaths, which included wounds consistent with stabbing.
Rob Reiner rose to fame with his role on the TV sitcom All in the Family and later gained renown as a director of films including The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men, the latter earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. One of his most iconic works, the 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, chronicled a fading heavy metal band, with a sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, released this September.
In addition to his cinematic achievements, Reiner was an outspoken political activist, deeply involved in both California and national politics.
