Stabbing Incident at U.S. Walmart Injures Eleven
Munson Medical Center reported, “We can confirm that 11 victims are being treated at Munson Medical Center,” and noted their emergency department is experiencing “a higher-than-usual volume of patients.”
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by this event, and we are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement for their swift action,” the hospital added.
The stabbing occurred shortly after 5 p.m. (2100 GMT) in Traverse City, triggering a significant emergency response.
Michigan State Police labeled the situation an “active incident” and advised the public to steer clear of the area. Authorities reassured, “There is no danger to the public at this time,” while precautionary measures included cordoning off the Walmart and nearby businesses.
The investigation is being led by the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office.
Initial eyewitness accounts indicated more than five injured individuals were transported to a hospital, though official numbers were only later confirmed.
Emergency personnel stayed at the scene late into Saturday as they continued their efforts to manage the situation and gather more information.
