Bomb Hoaxes Threat Targets Schools, Temple in India
(MENAFN) Over the past three days, eight schools and one college in Delhi, along with the Golden Temple in Amritsar, have been hit by a series of bomb hoax threats, sparking widespread panic and large-scale security responses, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
Emergency protocols were activated after bomb threats—delivered via email—prompted evacuations and extensive searches. Despite the alarm, no explosives or suspicious items were found during inspections, officials said.
Panic gripped five private schools in Delhi on Wednesday morning after they received alarming emails threatening bomb attacks. Authorities swiftly cleared the campuses while security teams conducted exhaustive checks.
Police confirmed that the threats were baseless. Searches turned up nothing unusual, and the bomb threats were deemed false, officials stated.
On Tuesday, Delhi University’s prestigious St. Stephen's College was targeted with a chilling email claiming that four IEDs and two RDX explosives had been placed around the campus, including the library. Responding units—including bomb squads and sniffer dog teams—scoured the premises but found no evidence of explosives.
The week began with three Delhi schools receiving similar email threats on Monday, mirroring the pattern of hoaxes.
In a parallel development, the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab, received its third bomb threat in as many days on Wednesday, escalating concerns over repeated targeting of high-profile locations.
Police have filed a case and initiated an investigation into the series of false alarms.
