Chiellini Goes from Juventus Icon to LAFC Part-Owner
(MENAFN) Giorgio Chiellini, the iconic former Juventus and Italy defender, officially became a part-owner of Major League Soccer (MLS) club Los Angeles FC on Tuesday, marking a significant new chapter in his post-playing career.
"Joining the LAFC ownership group is a great honor for me,” Chiellini said in a statement published on lafc.com.
"When I arrived here three years ago as a player, I immediately felt that there was something special about this club. It is an ambitious organization, built by extraordinary people and supported by a community that truly makes you feel at home. That is why, last year, I expressed my desire to become an owner, and now I’m proud to continue this journey and give my support to a project I deeply believe in," he added.
Chiellini’s announcement cements a deeper relationship with LAFC, where he played from July 2022 through the end of the 2023 season after a decorated career in Italy.
The 40-year-old enjoyed a storied tenure at Juventus from 2005 to 2022, amassing nine Serie A championships, five Coppa Italia victories, and five Italian Super Cups.
Internationally, Chiellini added to his legacy by helping Italy capture the 2020 UEFA European Championship.
